We were hosting lunch today and I made: spelt bread (for breakfast), rosemary and Gruyère cheese straws, buckwheat blini with crème fraîche and smoked salmon, mince pies and stripy brandy butter (the latter based on a family tradition, in slightly different form, but luckily still accepted!)
Took the whole morning, but worth it as it was fun to do and delicious to eat, along with Max’s glazed ham, sweet potato, roast tomato, creamed brussels and pancetta! A Christmas banquet!
We chose, felled and decorated our tree today. Surprisingly difficult to capture on paper!
We also made some arrangements with beautiful holly from Max’s parents’ garden in Devon. Prickly but worth it! (Spot the sprouts in the background!…)
We’ve just got out this lovely decoration, known as Reginald! He’d be lovely to sew, but I’ve done a portrait of him tonight.

I decided to make a second Christmas sampler, as I think it’s a lovely idea and is fun to do in between Christmas packing and wrapping!
I drew this on a friend’s iPad app. It mainly made symmetrical patterns, but I managed to make this bug-like picture too.
Lots of these around at the moment. Colour tomorrow will make it.
I was helping at a party tonight & was quite pleased with my creative innovation of pretty cup as chilli sauce holder!
I designed these via my advent calendar – reminds you how attractive small things like snowflakes can be!
I took a picture of this lovely birch tree today and really wanted to try and capture the bark colours.
